Downtown Split is pedestrian-only zone, most of it is easily reached on foot. If you want to explore outside the city core, here are your options.

Public transit

Split’s public transit is work in progress. Split Promet buses will take you across the city outside the downtown, the most likely destination being one of the two shopping malls. The closest bus station is located at Trg (Square) Gaje Bulata in front of Prima centre across the square from the National Theatre (see the map below). For Mall of Split or City Centar One hop on the bus #18.

Tickets can be bought at a newsstand or in a kiosk at the Prima bus stop. It costs 9 kn per ride. For more information check Promet-Split website.

Taxi and Uber

Both are running in Split. Taxi stops can be found next to the bus stop at Prima on Trg (Square) Gaje Bulata (see above) across the square from the National Theatre, also by the fountain at Trg Franje Tudmana (Franjo Tudman Square) at the beginning of Riva, and at the Ferry Port (see the map below). Note that the starting fee when you take a taxi from the stop is significantly higher than when you call a taxi. Uber is a cheaper alternative, although a new taxi company Cammeo functions exactly the same as Uber and is even cheaper. Cammeo is our preferred taxi service.

When we need a trustworthy driver since we don’t own a car, we call Mario. He is fast, reliable, drives a van and speaks English. He can be reached via mobile/WhatsApp/SMS +385 99 4241 014 and you can negotiate your trip and price with him directly.

Bus, Ferry, Train

You can go to and from Split by any of the three. Bus terminal and train station are located at the Ferry port. The schedule and ticket prices can be found at website.
